The interior transfers you somewhere in the past but with a modern atmosphere. Even though not all the facilities are new but they create the atmosphere of really staying in a castle. The bed was very comfortable. The staff and restaurant was good. We stayed over on a Saturday night in January and the restaurant was full. Live music in the bar after dinner. Again full of guests, lovely atmosphere. The price for the dinner was a big higher than usual but it was worth it as the service was very good and the quality of food was great. The view from the hotel room was amazing as the hotel is a big uphill. It is not far from the town center, even walking distance. The only thing it is a very dark road to walk along. A cab might be a good option or a 3 mins drive from Clifden center. It is also 15 mins drive from Connemara National park and Kylemore Abbey. If you are driving from Galway, I would suggest that you should not take the wild Atlantic way road but the inner N59 road through the mountains which is very much impressive in terms of nature and views. Wild Atlantic way did not worth the 2 hrs drive at all after that road.

The hotel is stunning and set within lots of outdoor space and has a great walk down to the sea and tennis courts too. It is very impressive and doesn't disappoint. The owners pay extreme attention to detail and make every guest feel welcome with their personalised and friendly approach. Every evening they serve complimentary prosecco around the piano and the owners tell you the history of the building and local area - very interesting and entertaining! The food was amazing and there was a great selection. Would definitely return for another visit.

We are usually budget travelers and this was a bit of a splurge for us. It was worth it. It was nice to have a room for the adults and one for our kid. The seating area with a fireplace was also very nice. The breakfast was wonderful. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the birds/crickets chirping. It was so peaceful. The town was a five minute walk away and had all of the amenities we needed. It was wonderful to have the best of both worlds. Tranquility and convenience together in one location without breaking the bank. Two thumbs up.

I will be coming back to this property, it was unlike any type of travel experience I’ve had. The rooms were beautiful, all of the shared areas were so cozy, the location was great, and the staff and owners were so kind and accommodating. They were very involved and told stories of the history and it was evident how much time and effort they put into their business to make it amazing for their guests! They also gave great recommendations and it was easy to find things to do in the area while also being outside of the busy cities.

It was unique and had kept the original style and qualities of the castle. The room was gorgeous and so spacious as well as having a beautiful bath. The staff were very nice and helpful. Brian and Ronan the owners were so welcoming and friendly and on hand to play their part which emphasises the care that is put into the premises. The breakfast was delicious and was definitely worth getting out of the very comfy bed for…which says a lot
